In the workshop we will explore the sense of support in enabling ease in movement and increased sensitivity to environmental stimuli. Through landing, a process of connecting with the body based on the relationship between the ground, bones and gravity, we will explore new pathways of moving and relating. By following inner impulses and sensations, we will enhance embodied awareness and proprioception, our ability to sense ourselves in space and time, letting movement emerge naturally within the dynamic field of the group and our surroundings. The session will close with an outdoor practice close to STPLN.
The workshop is part of my research paper on restoring movement development and its connection to attachment, emotional, regulatory, and agency capacities through somatic practices grounded in relational and spatial support for the upcoming International Body Psychotherapy Journal.
Myrto Noa Charalampous is a body psychotherapist and movement researcher from Greece, based in Malmö. With a background in journalism, cultural & film studies and experience in dance, she further trained in body psychotherapy and attended workshops in somatic practices including Core Awareness, Skinner Releasing Technique, Butoh, Zhineng Qi Gong and the Tamapla art/life process. She holds a PhD in site specific performance (Technical University of Athens, faculty of Architecture) where she explored new ways of perceiving space by intersecting the choreographic process with the spatial environment. Her research focuses on the dynamic relationship between perception, movement, and space.
For dancers, actors, performers, body oriented therapists and individuals with experience in somatics or related movement modalities. The workshop is free of charge and will be in English.
