After She Leaves

After She Leaves

(A Performative and Visual Reading)

What happens after a woman leaves? Who tells her story, and what remains of her when she is no longer there?

After She Leaves brings together three women whose departures have been remembered, imagined or reconstructed in very different ways: Eve leaving Eden, Nora walking out of Ibsen's A Doll's House, and Madra, a woman whose story survives through fragments of family memory.

Through performative reading, voice, moving images and visual experimentation, writer and performance-maker Hoda Arbabi and visual artist Ayda Pakzad Afshar explore how women's stories are preserved, altered and retold through the traces they leave behind. Presented as a live hybrid artistic encounter, Hoda will perform in person at STPLN in Malmö, while Ayda joins remotely from Scotland. Together, they bring text, image and performance into dialogue, exploring the relationship between presence, absence and storytelling.

This event marks the first public experiment in an ongoing artistic collaboration. The presentation will be followed by a short, informal conversation with the artists. The event is also planned to be livestreamed. Details on how to watch online will be announced closer to the date.
